Wasted catch

Bycatch harms ocean wildlife, wastes food resources, and undercuts the economic success of US fisheries. Some fisheries discard more fish at sea than they bring to port. And, in the process, thousands of animals such as whales, dolphins, and sea turtles are injured and killed.

I worked closely with Oceana’s scientists and campaign managers to design a suite of materials to show the profound harm that bycatch causes.

My contributions

Graphic design

I conceptualized and designed materials including a report, brochure, fact sheets, and folder. In addition to designing the materials’ layouts, I created data visualizations.

A suite of print materials including a folder with a booklet, brochure, and fact sheets. The materials are prominently blue in color, and the booklet features a haunting photo of a shark caught in a fishing net.
Several fact sheets with similar design formatting calling out prominent stats through data visualizations and bold typography
